Abstract

This review article is part of the theoretical support of the ongoing research project that aims
to characterize families belonging to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Colombia. Some considerations related to the concepts of contemporary family are presented, in order to reflect on
the new perspectives that are emerging in recent family configurations. Consequently, the concept of family is traced from different authors and disciplines. Undoubtedly, the concept of family is the result of a process of social construction of reality, on which all the dynamics and interactions of human beings are generated because the family continues to be the fundamental basis
of the psychosocial and axiological construction of integral development. of each of its members.
